If you've found the random on/off issue cause to be wires shorting from broken/cut insulation from firewall damage, do you think that the terminal bright lights issue could come from the same source? Say, maybe the ground wire to the brights is exposed and grounded so the lights see that as a switch...

Same thing with me (sorta). Got a speeding ticket in my '89 ae92 in San Marcos. No badging on the car so the officer wrote Honda on the ticket. Ended up getting it dismissed in court.
