so, its running rich at 15, but ok at 25? is their something that controls this on the car?

seeing in my other thread that my mechanical advance isn't working, i'll rebuild it and see if my car improves. The timing is at the stock timing mark, but the dizzy's internals could be preventing it from properly advancing. I'll also recheck the exhaust for leaks.

The dizzy is 25 years old, it probably could use a good cleaning. I'll also check the air gap before i get to into the deconstruction of it, according the the manual, if its outside the tolerance, just get a new dizzy. Hopefully the springs are still good, i dunno where to get new ones.

How can you tell if the mechanical advance is bad on a distributor? The haynes manual says turn the rotor clockwise, and the springs will pull it back to the original position. Mine doesn't do that. Another thing that struck me while talking with a friend, is that the rings could not be seated yet. I guess i'll drive it around, and rev up the engine with load. I really haven't done that, and i doubt it will hurt anything. The vacuum reading is too good to be a bad headgasket.

gonna give this a bump and update. I replaced the wires with new denso wires, and i still have the same problem. The cars sputters while revving, and pops at idle.
