Re: WTB Intake Plenum, Austin, TX (4age 20v silvertop)

I'll pass on that idea. I just want to get the correct part for my mechanic so isn't forced to ghetto-rig anything. He already told me he really hates doing that and wants the car to be fixed up correctly. I have to agree, though I do thank you for your response. I'm praying I get the part this time...

WTB Intake Plenum, Austin, TX (4age 20v silvertop)

So I got my hands on an '85 corolla hatch w/ a 4age 20v(silvertop) conversion. It had a few problems, so I took it to a mechanic that has done a lot of conversions in the past. Well, he tells me that the mechanic that did the initial install appeared to have cut a lot of corners, and not done some t...

WTB silvertop intake plenum (Austin, TX)

I bought an 1985 Corolla GT-S w/ a 20v silvertop back around September of last year, and made the mistake of leaving with a mechanic apparently didn't want to work on it. So about a week or so ago I towed it to a shop that actuallly wants to work on it. 3 days ago the mechanic called me and asked if...

Nothing that I know about. If it wasn't listed, I assume it wasn't done since he was very detailed in the work he had put into it.

Seems like the AE86 w/ this engine generated a lot of interest. I'd be more than happy to show it off and even take you guys for ride. As long as everything checks out, I might even give some wheel time. The seller told me the transmission felt weak, so I may or may not end up swapping that after I'...

the other day i saw a corolla on south congress here in austin. i havent seen that many around austin. only a hand full in the past 2 years i've been here. True, I'm sure there are a lot of the 4 sedans, but very few 2 door hatches. I hope to sport mine around town to raise 86 awareness. The car is...

Wow, that would rock. I'll make a post when I get it out of the shop and am looking to have the engine examined. That'd be a huge help.

what are you having done shop wise? Engine is high idling and motor dies randomly while idling. I got it shipped to me a few days ago, and I haven't had a chance to drive it much to test since the owner said the coolant hose was leaking and ebrake didn't work. I had it towed to my shop, and they ar...

Sure, I wouldn't mind meeting up sometime. Once I get the car finished shop-wise, I am going to get it painted. It's in white primer right now. ^_^

(Austin, TX) Seeking a shop in the ATX area that'll work on

Bought a car w/ a 4A-GE 20V ST in it and my mechanic's shop won't work on it, since they have 0 experience with the engine. I'm just looking for a skilled, reasonably priced shop that will at least be able to check the engine out and possibly make some adjustments. (Idles high) Any suggestions would...
