Hey guys. New here, and to 86's. All my friends here are Honda freaks so I had to break the mold. Bought my first 86 a few months ago, 1986 SR-5 Coupe, and this weekend I just bought a rusted out 1985 GT-S Coupe for a conversion. I'll probably be annoying you guys with lots of questions when I go to put it all back in. I'm pretty good at tearing shit apart though
Here's some pics.
1986 sr-5

Ya, I was really hoping I could just restore the GT-S but it has cancer baaad. I wanted that sunroof!
Cool thing is, it still had the front and rear mud flaps, window visors, and even rear window louvers...on a coupe!, which I have yet to see anywhere else. I love it. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to have to completely swap the rear window to get the louver on my SR-5.
My garage is SMALL. I've been putting all my screws/parts in ziplock bags and labeling them. I don't have much room for storage, and its already filling up quick.
I'll be happy when I can get rid of this though.

i really need the front turn signal markers if your willing to part?
its all i need to get my 86 street legal. shame you couldnt get the rust out but i know how some of these texas cars go! but i like the sr5 fender flares better than the gts plastic ones! mine also came with mudflaps front and rear but i 86'd the front ones in favor of the sr5 fenders.no window louvers though

Haha, did you see that engine bay pic? I don't consider a junkyard 4ac motor with 240k+ miles on it perfect condition. It would cost me too much to build that 4ac. And why would I when I already have a COMPLETE GT-S swap I just bought for $900 that I can upgrade even further once its all installed in the SR-5?
Can the 4ac even utilize the rear disc brakes and LSD diff?
I'll have to see about parting with the turn signals. I'm not sure if I will part out what's left, or put all the sr-5 stuff in the gt-s body and get it running to sell.

I say it was a good find. But really my 4ac is over 450,xxx Miles and still doing good jut cant figure out if I hooked up the carb right or need it finished but im just to lazy to get it done. But really the SR5 looks in great condition. I would say Stay with the SR5 cause alot of people go GTS conversion. Same with the 240 guys. As soon as they get a 240 its SR swap time. Stay orignal run with the 4ac. I mean the 4ac is still a 4ag block just alittle downgraded with pistons and such. I say really its up to you but it will save money and time, But to each his own!. But nice find man keep us posted on the buildds.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Driving the Sr5 is a buzz-kill. The GTS motor feels so much better and there is a ton of aftermarket parts available for the 4ag. Looks like it's going to be a clean and easy swap. I did the same thing... found a rusty donor and put everything in my clean Sr5.
And to Mr. Specter... the Sr5 motor you have is not the original so...
