For some reason I only like cars from the 80's

Hey there. I'm Charlie. First car was a non-running RX-7 FC S4 (still not running; gotta do the fun part next: rebuild the engine) when I started driving about a year ago. Drove an automatic Ford Focus for a while and pretty much hated it...almost fell asleep on the hwy in that car more than once. Swapped that for an 8th gen corolla which got me around for a couple months before sliding into a wall one day when the rain caught me off guard and I forgot how friction works. I got lucky though and 3 days before crashing my '99 corolla I bought a wrecked sr5 hatch on a whim.
Pulled out the front end, got her running, and absolutely fell in love almost immediately. My RX-7's still my sweet baby love, but this AE86 has found a deep, secure place in my heart. Unfortunately, she died after a little 400-mile roadtrip a couple weeks ago and now I'm trying to track down parts, so I'm finally getting around to joining 86 enthusiast sites like this one in the hopes that I'll fine a core support in decent condition so I can rebuild the front end.
Hope to make some friends and learn more about these awesome little cars through this site. I'm in the PORTLAND, OR area.
