81"
Damn it. I want that wheelbase. Actually, I was watching initial d with my little brother (yeah shut up) and I decided I am absolutely in love with this little bugger:

It weighs 1500lbs, which is actually not that bad if you consider all that goes into it. However, its only got 65hp. So it would be cool if I could get one that was just as narrow, and just as light but powered by a 4AGE. So I went to the garage and i took some quick measurements of the 4AGE and drew this up real quick:

I used one of the FSAE frames from the UTA F08 car as a reference and came up with something that looks like this:

The 4AGE is huge in a car that small. But I kind of like the challenge of packaging such a "big" engine in such a small car. I think thats about as far as I can get just by being lazy. I really should mock up the passenger compartment to see what space the passengers need. Oh well, maybe in 3 years it will come to.
Keep us updated on your project!

Re: My new build
Hi guys,long time no update-sorry I've been ice racing for the last 6 weekends in a row.Lots of commitment to run the series but it payed off as I won both the street studded class championship and overall street studded tire championship.
So back to work on the summer toy,its coming slowly but I'll keep plugging away.
Heres where it is after tonights work,

The ice car isn't too fancy,just a plain 'ol civic si hatch with a few tricks under the skin.
Here's mine,I used for autox and track last summer after tearing the corolla apart.

Here's my wife's car,its getting some improvements next for next year as I think it can be a better car than the civic.
http://s117.photobucket.com/albums/o50/ ... g&newest=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Here's some vids from this year.
Watch as I hit a guy that backed out of the bank right in front at about the 7 minute mark
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AafO67gtb3U" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Lots of slush,car kept floating around on top of it,gets better near the end once I start lapping people.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QNx830kVFQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Track was pretty grippy and my gearing was killing me.2nd gear was too short and 3rd too tall as you can hear by the engines lack of thrust.When its slick 3rd gear is about perfect for the entire track.

Re: My new build
Thanks,the civic has now been sold and the metro will receice a GTi 1.3 dohc swap and some other "improvements".
Some guys run the same cars year after year after year(1 guys been running the same '81 tercel since the mid eighties for cying out loud)not me though,once I get a car to be a front runner its usually sold.Then I take on the challenge of making a different chassis work,I figure anyone can get 1 car to work but if someone can prove themselves with multiple cars that says something.
Pretty sure I'm the only guy out of the 100+ drivers thats run every drivetrain configuration and in all 3 tire classes.

Yep,snowflakes left over from the corolla days.I have a set of supras as well but the thing will be WIDE on them.
Looks like the tube car won't be ready for the 1st event or 2 so I'll run the geo-dead stock in the mod class to get some points.Should be interesting.

i admire your choice of perspective and drive tom. making front runner cars is an ideal goal. who would have thoughtkevlar corolla wrote:Thanks,the civic has now been sold and the metro will receice a GTi 1.3 dohc swap and some other "improvements".![]()

Thanks,don't why I'm the way I am but I can't see changing it. :D
Also I just realized you asked about custom sways for this thing,nah I'm not that big a fan of how a sway functions so this car will go without them as did the corolla.Don't get me wrong they have their place but its limited to road cars imho.(and drift cars actually,pefect for quickly setting a front to rear balance on differing courses/surfaces)
