You mean sways?,if they do run them(lots do)they aren't very obvious as most ofter its mounted at the rocker arms for the inboard suspension.I've studied some of the arrangements and it looks to be quite complicated to get right,I went for simple....like me perhaps.

Re: My new build
makes sense.

Re: My new build
More parts arrived, driveshaft adapter,u-joint and yokes for the driveshaft, cam lock harness, steering wheel, steering rack, quick release hub for wheel, power commander for engine tuning, oil sump baffle to keep engine from going boom(hopefully).Searched the wreckers for a suitable small rad today with no luck, try a different one tomorrow, also have a aftermarket bike muffler coming and a stock header from a gsxr to cut up for bends to build my header with.Should hear back 1st of next week on the shock order, hope they aren't delayed.
Lots to work on now, better stay busy as I have 2 months before I'm supposed to be on track with it.

Re: My new build
Picked up a civic half rad and fan today at the wreckers, also received an e-mail from the guy with the bike header that says he sold it to someone else so now I need to find something else-took me a month to find that one.
Re: My new build

Re: My new build
Thats very sexy..but not in my budget.I'm just using a couple u-hoints and 3/4" tube and heim for the shaft.
Mounted the rad today and added some additional diagonal bracing up front,I post some pics late. Its starting to look like a car...a very purposeful car but a car nontheless.

Re: My new build
That single seater sure looks to have a ton of ackerman, hard to tell but if you look really close at the inboard dampers it appears to have links which go to the roll bar.The roll bar in these things are nothing like what you see in a production car, usually only inches long.

Re: My new build
i forget how the ackerman angle is since we went over it in school. the only ones are work with are the big three. hopefully soon that will change. i still remember sai but not ackerman.ill have to look it up. the car looks great, what do plan on doing for a body?

Re: My new build
Ackerman is the difference in turning angles between the inside and outside wheels, needed for the different radius travelled between the 2 wheels.Race cars seem to like lots of extra turning radius by the inside wheel, part of it is that you don't need to run large toe out specs as compensation so the outside wheel reacts quicker to input.Think of it pointing where you want to go with less steering input since it doesn't start pointing towards the outside of the turn. The other part is less understood,it seems that the lightly loaded inside wheel generates more grip than previously assumed so running it at a large slip angle works well.
The body will be inside of the tubing except for the front on top, that is to be composite as its able to be a shape too complex for aluminum sheet.

Re: My new build
very cool tom and alan! ackerman steering geometry is actually an interesting topic. it makes more sense on paper and in a math class than in real world practice though e.g. the movement of gases/liquids in an absolute zero pressure environment when dealing with bernoulli's equation in regards to the flow of fluids/aerodynamics from high to low pressure, etc...
anyway, very cool guys.
