Hey guys,
Hard times have come. Anyways, my cars are on the market.
Can see em at
http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/1458873653.html
or on this site at
viewtopic.php?t=1591
The GT-S is stripped down, but I've been putting it back together in my spare time. The wiring harness is back in, so it will turn it over. If I manage to get it running again I might end up keeping it.
I'm not parting anything out. Will sell separately. For quickest response email me from the craigslist posting. I don't check here too often.
Thanks.

Heck, I may keep both. Me and some friends are trying to scrap together and all split rent on for a shop to work in, but if we don't get it I may lose em. It's hard working in a garage with no electricity, especially when it gets dark so early...

I have a job. Am just at odds with myself...Part of me reallllly wants to keep them, and another part wants me to sell 'em to be debt free.

the only debt i have left is my houspayment and my car for just a couple more months. i may payoff the monte with my tax return but i'd rather spend it on my 86.

Well, with minimal effort from me and a friend I was able to crank the GT-S today...I think I am in love.
This is my first time to hear it run, and it sounds great compared to my 4a-c, even with stock exhaust. Timing is dead on, idle is good...But it sounds like a rod bearing is out. Can hear it when it revs around 3500 or so. Anyone know if this can be changed without pulling the motor? I wasn't sure if that crossmember under the oil pan is removable or not.
Anyways, I'm gonna postpone the selling of these cars for now.
This thread can be deleted.

if it ticks all the time from start up to max rpms than its a rod bearing. you may have an oil pressure issue but it sounds more like a lifter tick to me if its only at 3500 rpms or maybe something rattling around and the harmonic vibration at that certain rpm maybe causing something to vibrate.
check oil pressure and then lifter clearance. its also possible a spring went weak on you from sitting for awhile.(as in my ticking issue)
also if its a rod bearing the tick will be greatly reduced or silenced if load is taken from the cylinder. remove the injector clips per cylinder to null load until the tick dissapears indicating the cylinder with a tossed bearing.

I won't pretend to have a clue personally as to what it is, since I've had very little hands on experience with the insides of a motor. I'm just going on the advice of my friend who knows considerably more than me. All I know is the knock gets louder and faster the higher I rev the car, and it definitely sounds like its coming from inside the motor itself. It doesn't make a noise at all at idle around 1k rpms. around 3-4krpm it begins.
I'll be sure and try and check what you said, thanks for the tip.
I know this isn't really the right thread for this, but since it hasn't been deleted yet I'll ask another question. Is the fuel pump supposed to prime in accessory before you actually try to crank the car? I'm used to hearing it whine in from my old Honda, but it doesn't do that. Was wondering if i might have a relay out or something.
Thanks again.

Ya, it sounds just like that, but doesn't do it until I rev the car up. I'll try and take a video of it.
