The engine oil dipsticks never came with a clip. Automatic transmission dipsticks have that though.

check your breather tube(passenger side valve cover to intake), if it clogs you'll build up crankcase pressure and the dipstick will pop out of the tube. My original valve covers were clogged, swapped to some that had been vatted and cleaned and that solved it. Also take a screwdriver or something that'll fit in the tube on the intake side and make sure there's no restriction. you may have to pull the intake and have it cleaned to get all the carbon out. you can try "seafoaming it" and see if that helps. the 4age doesn't have a PCV(positive crankcase ventilation) valve. it is a constant vacuum system that requires intake vacuum to relieve the pressure built up in the crankcase. if it's not working properly it will cause the dipstick to pop out and can cause you to blow out oil seals.

it's the little hose going from the valve cover to the intake manifold. It's kinda clear gold in color in this pic. The 4ag DOES NOT have a pcv valve, it is a constant vacuum ventilation system. but if either side of this hose, or the nipples on intake and valve cover, are clogged it will build excess crankcase pressure

I replied to your post. if you're running a catch can it should run from the valve cover to the can then from the can to the intake manifold. but should be sealed and under constant vacuum as to provide the needed vacuum to relieve the crankcase pressure. does that make sense?
