I don't have access to a lathe but needed to shave my 1NZ coil packs down to fit. I was just going to sand them down. Any recommend what grit I should use?

Have you checked with some area hobby shops like those who build sailing ships or RC airplanes? Unimat lathes are pretty popular with them for modeling and machining small, precision parts. Perhaps they know someone who has one. It is worth a try.

i just used some double digit grit and spent about 5 min each on them.
