about to buy an sr5... need help!!!
just wanted to ask you guys some questions about the sr5...
1) is 1200 a good price? running and good body condition?
2) what is all needed to do a gts conversion? i just know rear end, driveshaft?, engine... looks like the gas tank is different. body harness?
3) are the front brakes different from the gts?
4)and last, what else besides the above mentioned are diffrent?

I've had a few sr5's, the most expensive one was a coupe in mint condition that I paid 650 for, brand new paint, tires and wheels with cold a/c. I think 1200 is way tooooooo high. If you have 1,000 start looking for a GTS and save some more. Its such a PITA to swap sr5 to gt-s, its better to get a gt-s and spend all that effort making it better.

1) well for one 1200 isn't a bad price seeing how corollas are getting harder to come by nowdays for a cheap price but i would say go based off of how well maintained the car is i have seen some mint sr5 go and some crappy ones go for up and down prices, i'd say if the body is in good shape and the interior is somewhat decent and not torn to shreds and if it runs right then sure 1200 shouldn't be too bad although some ppl lucked out and got theirs for a few hundred !ManilaGorilla wrote:just wanted to ask you guys some questions about the sr5...

2) there is a write up in the refrence section on club4ag a really good one it has everything in good detail as to all the differences and what you would need to do to do the gts swap
3) I don't really think the front brakes are diff. they are disc just like the gts but on the sr5 the only ones you would have to change are the drum brakes in the rear but that all goes back to the club4ag ref. section on the sr5/gts swap
4) go to club4ag and read the ref. section it should give you everything you need to know

2. gas tank different (gts has fuel pump inside) body harness are the same but not underdash. and yes you need to run it to the fuel pump.
3. Front brake are the same but you need gts proportioning valve when you put ts rear end. Get rear end with ebrake cable if you can.
4. tach is different and the gear
5. If the SR5 is automatic you need more parts.

1200 is pretty steep for a decent SR5.
the difficulty of the GTS conversion depends on how much of it you want to be GTS outside of essentials.
i believe this is a comprehensive list for a full GTS conversion (outside of the VIN ):
-4AG (and appropriate accessories of your choosing with their respective brackets & pulleys)
-engine harness
-engine fuseblock
-ecu
-dash harness & fuseblock
-rear chassis harness
-rear end & axles (LSD option requires appropriate axles)
-drive shaft
-bell housing (entire transmission for that matter or deal with incorrect speedo)
-ebrake cables (you can keep the sr5 hand brake and cable equalizer)
-rear hydraulic brake hoses, discs and calipers (*you may need the brake proportioner - i'm not sure if there's a noticeable performance difference between the GTS and SR5: part numbers are different though 47190-12040 & 22040 respectively)
-gauge cluster
-fuel lines
-GTS tank (it's baffled).
-GTS front and rear sway bars (they're 1-2mm thicker IIRC)
-GTS front driver and pass seats
-GTS driver and pass front bumper extensions and center filler
again, the above list is for a FULL conversion with no DIY components.

lucky it's kinda hard to find someone to sell a gts for that cheap considering ppl at the "initial d" tax nowdays when i got mine i just took it b/c it was the only thing i had seen that decent over months and months and months of looking so it's whatevsmooreofmick wrote:i payed 1500 for my true gts from some old guy, my only complant is that it didnt have an lsd
