feedback on one piece drive shaft
enthusiast, I know this subject had been talked about for a long time but I want more feedback other then just the ones in forums from 2008. For those that are running the one piece drive shaft, I want your feedback and opinions.
Just for the record, I do track my car (grip race only) and not one of those people who just one a "cool guy parts "

i cant really tell theres a difference in all honesty.

take out your ebrake and watch your driveshaft on a hard launch you will see it bouncing all over the place at the center support bearing and you will feel a vibration that goes along with it.i did a one peice in my sc400 the only vibration i get under hard accel is wheel hop but i picked up other vibrations mainly freeway speeds.

OEM drive shaft is about 21 lbs
1 piece that I make is about 14 lbs
Just in the weight savings is 7-8 lbs
I think it makes a difference in acceleration
But I'm biased obviously

7-8lbs may not seem like much but this is weight in a rotating assembly. I've talked myself out of a lightweight flywheel for years but now the more research I do the more I want. I need to look into driveshafts too. I think @AznTKDmstrAznTKDmstr had some play with this?
I like cars, food, and puppies.

I love mine. You also have to realize its not just weight. You are also removing 2 joints and that stupid carrier that will decrease drivetrain loss. I'm almost certain my car now with a w58 and 3.90 gears was made up with the 1 piece. Granted the only thing stock under my 86 is the sway bars...

every 1 pound stationary translates to 7 pounds rotating... so 20 pounds static becomes the equivalent of 140 pounds rotating... food for thought

Question, For 86boy and for those that has one on their 86. After installing the 1 piece drive shaft including the 4 adjustable links and correcting pinion angle where it should be at... Will you still get any vibration or sound?

mine was set to -0.5 I've read of people going to -3 with it. As long as it's between 0 to -2 you should be good. only vibrations I've had were the tires being oddly worn from being on the front and not being rebalanced. vibrations will happen regardless if you have 5 link with heim joints though. Everything pretty much gets resonated through the chassis at that point.

When I had my old te72 4dr I was running a 1pc driveshaft with a kouki gts rear end with the adj 4 link setup I encountered most of the vibration on the highway I also had a semi gutted interior lets just say it was quite noisy and annoying! Local driving wasn't as bad but I must say the ladies loved it jajaja I was running 15x8s 205/45s so I had a decent contact patch as we'll I did notice improve accel got sideways easier but it sacrificed cabin comfort

I've had that highway vibration since the 4link even with a stock driveshaft. If you ditch the rubber bushings for metal on metal (heim joint) you'll feel the engine/drive train vibrations through the chassis.
