sorry alan but the cosworth is a ford motor that even toyota tried to replicate. i don't understand the rivalry between ford and chevy guys. i guess it's healthy to some extent but at times it borders on hatfield and mccoyism.

i don't like to new body styling anyway. for me the ultimate camaro was the 70-72 split bumper rally sports.

but even though mopar beat ford out of the shoot with the cuda (by just several days) ford still won big with the stang (chevy still trailing) and continues to even to this day.

keep in mind shelby/ford collaboration won several european titles including lemans and ultimately shelby (again with the help of ford) got to build THE corvette killer. chevy put the last nail in the coffin when their own engineers felt threatened by carroll's desire to build a corvette alternative and pulled their support from shelby.

my close friends just 2 doors down have a 95 suburban that's nothing but a money pit. it's no lie and no exaggeration. it's a pristine car on the outside but it's nothing but cobwebs and hollow bones under the shell.

chevy's got a great history too but ford has one as well and a definitive one for that matter and with a fellow Texan to boot!

ford has great cars in touring, rally, GT, nascar, formula, D1 (soon!!!) and FD. ford has built cars that have matched and beaten ferraris and porsches, etc.

credit should be given where it's due and ford has more than earned that respect in my book.

p.s. my first car was a 65 2x2 mustang coupe and it was also a money pit and sold.

also my brother in law had an f250 superduty 5.7 and it was also a money pit. one motor and two tranny's!!!!! in less than 5 years.

in the five years ive owned my monte carlo the only problem i had with it was the tranny after i put 11 psi of boost(120,000m) on it and then a failing injector causing the motor to run lean on #3 and toasting a piston.

chevy's 3.8 n\a!!!!(what they sold to the masses not a race car........) can take every bit of 500whp. i'd like to hear ford say that about there 3.8l piece of crap!!!!

dont even get me started on 4.6....ls1FTMFW!!!!!

also ask my brother who wroked a tranny shop which cars he saw the most and he will tell you.ford...

he will also tell you that the dodge tranny's (i forget what they call them) held up the best. i know chevy's tranny's are not the best but at least the aftermarket is there to pick up where chevy left off. i dont see this for the ford.....

and again no offense, this is an opinionated argument on an open discussion forum.

I have to thank him for getting me into cars.. because that thing is beautiful, and I am happy to say he lets me drive it.

As far as Chevy vs Ford.. I would rather have a Toyota or a Honda any day.

i would have to say that i love the new camaro and its 300 v6 which puts down about 230hp to the wheels which compared to the 4.6 v8 which only puts down 240hp to the wheel that alone should tell you some thing no not to offend any one but the new mustangs look like crack compared to the camaro. me personal the only mustangs i would own would be 66-68 fast backs and boss 429, 88 lx t top , and the 03 three cobra which are sick. but other than that i dont thick there worth a crap. and as far as the drifter camaro i hope it does well on the circuit go chevy :D

i am suprised no one mentioned the yanko camaro ... yall forget that one... there was shelby mustang and yanko camaro .. fairly close performace cars lol... but im sorry i like old mustangs and camaros ..lol.. but if i would love to get the in my book ultimate machine . . a 1981 bmw m1 the only mid engine bmw with a straight 6 itbs mechanical fuel injection. 460 to the rear wheels. 357 ever preduced 57 sold in the us there bad to the bone ... but im a bmw guy lol... that also was a mech map sensor carlol... . but ican say this dont get offended chevy guys but there transmissions suck if there not allison lol... bmw uses General Motors automatics.. sucky .... but again i like ford and chevy ... but every make and model has had its screw ups in the years ... like the 700r4 sucky trany fo chevy .. the old ford tempos that was a mstake lol...
bmws only belt driven inline 6 motors during the e30 era sucky..
dodges transmissions in 95 and there late 90s neons that like to have oil leaks in the back head gasket.. vw 4 cyl motors in there 03 and down to like 98 or so are crap ... all i am saying everymake and model gets there turn in craper lol...but the history ford was the first to mass produce cars so everyone can own one...cant remember but i think chevy was but most likely im wrong but correct me .. werent they the ones that made the first V8... dodge had the first himi... no everyting is a himi toyota bmw vw ext lol... so but for the record i think the new camarros are sweet looking compared to the ford ... but i mostly like 67 and 68 fastback mustangs and 78 camaros ... thanks for reading my ramble...

well, i've had nothing but good service from the fords that have been in my family and i've personally owned.

-father's 69 mach1. (was never in the shop except for oil changes and regular tune ups. dad sold it to pay for divorce court fees...:( )
-84 econoline van (my band toured in from coast to coast back in the early 90s.)
-93 straight 6 5spd F150. ran like a champ, freezing a/c to boot (sold to pay for the wagon)
-67 F100 v8 352 edsel (pending sale - too many cars)
-92 5.0 F150 still in good service with arctic a/c as well.

everyone can go back and forth but you can't tell me my experiences with ford has been anything but good and if you dismiss any of ford's historical wins at home and abroad, engineering successes, etc. than in reality it's not an open debate but an emotional argument.

everyone has their preference. i'm just not trying to win converts. life is full of way too many variables and dynamics.
