civic gas mileage mods poll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by nt66 »

So I'm driving to Dallas tonight in the civic and I will be doing some fuel mileage mods. What mileage do you think I can get?

So here are the details:

99 civic ex 2 door with all options/full interior (d16 y8 vetc completely stock)
spare tire and tools still in it
it has an 11 ish gallon tank
I'll be running 50ish psi in the tires
home made front air dam
home made rear wheel covers
all cracks covered in tape
wipers removed
passenger mirror removed
starting with a full tank of 87

pictures to follow

there wasn't an option for 300+?

i believe you'll range 350 to 360 on the one tank.

i read an article in a car and driver mag about system that uses a fogger style rail that uses air pressure of just a couple psi to defuse the low pressure behind the vehicle. they used a belt driven pump like the a\c compressor to drive the air.

also re-greasing the caliper slide pins and rebuilding the calipers will help a little too and fresh wheel bearings.also if the alignment is out it can cause some drag.you could also pull the drag out of the rears if they are drum. but this will increase the free play length in you pedal which im sure you know.good luck and my guess is also around 35 mpg.

do you not think 45 psi is a little much for that car. honda recommends 32 psi. also kinda hard to give a good estimate. is it gonna be highway driving, city, 50/50?? all highway i say about 350 - 380. city i'd say 300 - 320.

I forgot to mention that the civic is auto tragic....... So I left around six tonight I drove about 50 to 60 mph and right now the trip meter is at 251 miles and the gas gauge is in between three quarters and half. Its really crazy mileage for the car I didn't know the mods would help as much as they have. I will post pics in the morning but they are a little worse for the wear after driving through the wet/snow slush. I think I'm around 60 mpg right now but I'll know the actual mileage on Monday as I plan to drive it until it runs out.

p.s. for the first 30 miles I was in bumper to bumper traffic and I had to make three pit stops along the way
