i was thinking i might want to replace my clutch sometime down the road since mine is 23 years old and i like to kick the hell out of it. so i was curious is it a hard job to replace the clutch or is it pretty easy

Take the driveshaft out about 6 bolts
Take the tranny out 4 bolts for the support and 8 bolts at bell housting
Take the pressure plate out 8 bolts

You can check your pilot bearing if it still good change it (recommend)
Put new bearing at bell housing

Put new clutch ( You need the align tool that come with new clutch) Then put pressure plate back on.

It's good idea to drain and put new tranny oil

Put the tranny back on put the driveshaft on

What hard?
you have to work under the car ( put your car on the stand as high as possible so you can have more room)
But well the higher the car the higher you have to lift the tranny to this thing is heavy when you try to lift it up when you lay down on the ground.
Get a tranny jack this thing save you time.

ive got a bunch of jap crap tools that snap and the biggest thing i have done yet was like timing and change the fuel pump i don't think i am ready to change the clutch maybe ill have one of my friends or something guide me to make sure i don't mess anything up

Well you not gonna mess anything up but you might not be able to put it back together or hurt your self if you do it alone remove/install the tranny. I would say if you can find somebody do this job for $200 or less let them do it. (^_^)

the clutch is easy, and the transmission I can pull out with my hands and set it down.
=P go for a stage 3 clutch, new pilot bearing and throw out bearing.

i just put in a xtd stage 3 clutch and 9lb flywheel. haven't been able to use it yet due to the damn master cylinder going out. oh yeah most important of all, keep track of your bolts and where they go. it sucks trying to match bolts with holes.

oh yeah and remember how things look when you take them out so you don't have some one telling you that your throw out bearing goes between the fork. it doesn't. lol.

and when you put the slips on the throw out bearing, weld the clips in place so they dont pop off =P

mine came off twice in 1 day.... so I welded them in place. and they still havn't come off. woop

also- when your taking your pilot bearing out, pack the recessed area with THICK grease and hammer one of the tranny bolts into the bearing to force it out. Repeat as necessary.

clean out the hole and carefully hammer a sized socket on the bearing into the hole

um, i highly recommend not doing it this way.

please get a slide hammer and the proper pilot bearing puller attachment that can be had for really cheap.

i also do not recommend welding the clips onto the throw out bearing. the clips aren't welded on so the throw out bearing can move freely on the thrust shaft according to the line of the shaft and not limited by any inflexible static points.

I ve done this job a 1000 times and Ill do it for 200 if you bring the car to my house this weekend

Heck yeah, consider it done by an ae86 master transmission install/removal tech.

funny thing, i think i'll be doing Law's this saturday.

he finally received his illegal garage clutch after a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG wait. ok, so he waited a month for it to finally arrive.

i think mechanics are better at "mechanic-ing" than reliable sales and shipping.

he finally received his illegal garage clutch after a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG wait. ok, so he waited a month for it to finally arrive.

i think mechanics are better at "mechanic-ing" than reliable sales and shipping.
