opinions on option racing

Post by FujiwaraTofu »

I've been shopping around and was thinking of possibly buying a header from them in a bit, however I wanted a second opinion (since the first was the advertisement)

what kind of header are you buying? and is there any reason why you wouldnt want to buy a used TRD or something?

I've personally never heard of option racing... but here's a link to the header I'm guessing you are referring to.

That would be it. Trd is usually a bit out of my price range. Otherwise I'd probably just stick to them.

The fact that they couldn't make an extra effort in NOT displaying an image of their product in reverse already turns me away. I'd rather give my money to manufacturers who care enough to put their best foot forward for the customers they're appealing too.

I'd go trd all the way. The fitment is top notch. Easy to install, easy to remove. And hell, its made by Toyota.

$280. and he's willing to ship! yea, it's used, but this used TRD header is probably better than that new Option Header

If you want cheaper... OBX sells a header. If you have power steering... it's a little close on to the U-joint I actually had to make a little room for it to clear correctly. With the manual rack it clears with PLENTY of room. I'm still rocking mine btw. 4age to the 4agze. Still holding... even though I REALLY need to get it ceramic coated or something Engine temps get a little rediculous, but for 200 dollars.... can't really bitch. Be careful so you don't order the 20v one. it fits differently than the 16v from what I've read.

Alright I'll take a look at that too. Sounds more my style (budget lol) Is there any place that still sells the trd headers or do you have to just opt for used ones now?

imo obx headers are pieces of shit. sure, they get it done, but as far as performance upgrades go, id buy a used TRD header

just look at the inner diameter of the OBX and see how much narrower it is. if you know how to port, then all of this is irrelevant. but if you knew how to port, your just weld your own
