What's behind your 4AG crank's Oil Passage Plug

The following pictures may be too graphic and disturbing for some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised.

While overhauling a customer's motor:

Tada!

Yeah, that's what you've got waiting to come out of its cave to rob you of your brand new bearings.

Its a good thing that guy brought his car to a legit and thorough shop so his motor will run strong for a long time after he gets it back

that's due to build up over the years and lack of proper cleaning of the oil passages on the 4AG cranks. That bag of party favors mixes with the oil passing through your crank oil passages and gets flung out with centrifugal force.

pretty crazy stuff, was that pulled out of a motor before any work got done?

this is even after the crank was received back from a machine shop on an initial "turning". we're going over this motor with a fine tooth comb.

finished gapping the rings because the motor will eventually be seeing boost according to the customer's preference. h-beam rods, custom .50 over (.020 for those wanting "finer" detailed numbers ;)) carillo dished pistons, among other "doo-dads". the crank will be getting the "finishing" touches and some "special attention" tomorrow.
