Smallport query

Post by hachirokuGTV »

So I've got a standard smallport in my 86 but i'm not running some things like o2 sensor in exhaust, air temp sensor in air intake and after reading through the AE92 manual i'm not sure whether I have the ability to adjust the mixture either as there is normally a rich/lean adjustment control.
My question is will this affect the way the engine will run or will it run better with these connected? Is there some other way for me to adjust the fuel mixture?
Thanks.

Outside of the "adjusting screw" in the ISCV there's no way of adjusting the afr on management. Air temp would have more affect on running conditions than the factory single wire o2.

Are you running the smallport ecu as well?

If so, do you have the knock sensor hooked up and connected?

you can fiddle with the iat and clt circuits to adjust air fuel but timing will also be affected. theres also the afm mod but i would not de seal the factory afm.

Can confirm that there is no knock sensor present.

Are you running the "standard" SMALLPORT ecu or largeport ecu with modified harness?

The knock sensor is just beneath the intake manifold. Single wire, large greyish sensor.

If you're running the smallport ecu than you my friend must be running MAP.

Yes, definately smallport ecu, no knock sensor. Yes, it is the MAP sensor version.

in that case you can add a potentiometer to the map circuit to adjust the afr.this is how safc's work.
