sr5 gas tank to gts tank ????/ found one
Re: sr5 gas tank to gts tank ????/ found one
Noop question. How do we properly wire the fuel pump on the SR5? I believe the harness inside SR5 is different from GTS right?
Re: sr5 gas tank to gts tank ????/ found one
I completely agree with Jonas here. The fuel line needs to be upgraded to a 3/8 hose. The return & vent lines are the same though. If that line isn't upgraded, you are going to be starving for fuel.
If the car was carbuerated it won't have wires for the fuel pump since it used a vacuum system or some crap to deliver the fuel. To make it easy I grabbed the harness from a gts and plugged it in.

This is my understanding of itpecx wrote:Noop question. How do we properly wire the fuel pump on the SR5? I believe the harness inside SR5 is different from GTS right?
Pecx, there are two different attachments on the AE86 gas tanks:
(1)One attaches to the fuel level sender and has the clip to the chassis harness.
(2)The other attaches to the fuel lines on the ae86. The SR5 has no wires going to it; whereas, the GTS does.
For SR5 -- Notice wires to one attachment, and not the other
For GTS: -- Notice the fuel pump wires (colored blue)
The SR5's dont have the chasis harness for the fuel pump. So you would have to use a GTS chassis harness in an SR5 to get the fuel pump to work. OR you wire up your own fuel pump.
Correct me if I'm wrong?

I've seen pictures of guys converting the sr5 tank by cutting the lines, drilling holes and replacing with larger an line and fittings.

Yes, you have to upgrade the line coming from the tank. There are 3 lines present on the 4ac, two are the same size and one is smaller. On the gts, the same sized lines are the same, but the 3rd line is 3/8, which is larger than any of the other lines on the 4ac. This should be upgraded to the 3/8th line otherwise you risk restricting the fuel.AznTKDmstr wrote:I've seen pictures of guys converting the sr5 tank by cutting the lines, drilling holes and replacing with larger an line and fittings.
