was going out saturday morning and was sitting at a light and my exhaust started puffing white smoke...I brought the rpms up and studdered for a sec then starting blowing white smoke like a fog machine. So I pulled over and parked it. im still shocked it went while sitting at a light at idle....once i get the garage clean ill move it in and start tearing the motor down and let you guys know whats up...also i have never overheated the motor..

I'd be surprised if there was any damage to the block if it gave out at a light. I don't believe Latanzy (sp?) beats on it.

Hoping to start working on it in a couple weeks...I guess it's time to get the black top ready to go in....

Anything is possible. "Moore" ;) often than not, the head gasket will lose chunks before the block/head especially with stock "power". If the block lost material than the casting on that one particular block should never have passed "inspector 21".

Replacing a head gasket is easier and far less work than pulling the 16v, prepping a 20v, installing it, wiring it then getting it to start and run. Even if everything were ready to just plop right in and hook up it's still more work than replacing a headgasket.

Of course it's up to you.

Yea I know. But the blacktop is sitting there collecting dust the harness is already mated to USDM MR2 I would sell it if I could to fund this but im not getting alot of hits because of the value of the Buddy Club ECU(seen em go for 750-1000 the only 2 I have seen besides mine) so its hard for people to come up with $$$$$$

Im a little mad cause I just repalce the frt of the motor(timing belt, WP, etc) now I gotta tear it back down. Well I just bought a new daily this weekend so its gonna go on the stands for Manual rack, quaif quick ratio, new inner and outters (for more angle), new radiator, adjustable cam gears, put on the header, reaplace noisy wheel bearings, soild pinion spacer, and rebuild LSD, re-dye seats. Im hoping to have it all done in 6-7 months :-/

If money is better then it will also get a cage.

Don't get me wrong good buddy. I don't doubt it. I'm just going with the more common scenario.

well the head gasket popped next to the #4 piston. not to bad for 176,000 miles and i drove it pretty hard for the last 8-10,000 miles. The motor is in the shop getting cleaned up and hopefully back in this weekend so i can take the corolla to 8/6
