Crankshafts

I was doing some research and found some "useful" information concerning the 4AG crankshafts. ALL 3A,4A,5A,7A crankshafts have the same main journals. The rod journals vary but only between 40mm and 42mm. 3A and 3 rib 4A rod journals are the 40mm variety whereas the 7rib 4A and 5A(extremely hard to find) are 42mm. I believe the 7A are 42mm as well but can't find any information to back this up as of yet.

So if you have a 3 rib block and 7 rib internals, they will fit and no clearance modification necessary. 5A and 7A crankshafts will require clearance mods to the block to clear the counterweights on the crank.

But what about the oil pump, timing belt gear and rear main seal housing?

Rear main is the same part number. The housings I don't have a pn for and assume would be block specific except the 4A ones are all the same. Oil pumps across the board are different based on block. Crank gears are different but interchangeable on all 3A, 4A, and 7A engines.

No clue, wasn't looking for that. I was covering the A series crankshafts sir.

1ZZ crank may fit but it's a timing chain driven engine not a belt. If there was a crank drive gear that fits it may work. Main journals are same diameter though. I can't find any info on the overall dimensions. I got a bare block we could try to shove one in though!

I was wondering last night if a 7a crank would fit in a 4a block... like maybe for my hicomp setup? Anyone got a 7a crank I could borrow to see. Even if I had to trim some on the block for it to clear. I want more cubes but I want oil squirters too.
