I did up a block for a customer when I was at NST that used similar rods from Godspeed. At the machine shop I was doing the work out of under the chief builder's scrutinizing eye I placed some clay on the parts of the rod where I suspected they were meeting the bottom of the cylinder. After seeing how much material needed to be taken off for clearance on all 4 rods, I took a grinding die and made equal passes at the bottom of all 4 cylinders on both the intake and exhaust side then we ran it through the honer on the final grit for just a couple of passes to make sure the cylinder walls were still clean.
They've been doing all sorts of modifications like this on big block chevy's for decades and putting out record breaking times in the nationals and regionals. Don't remove more than is absolutely necessary and they need to be clean.
