The Bastard motor

So I'm about to build an interesting "conglomeration",if you will, 4AGE. I'm using a small port(7 rib with oil squirters) block, ZE rods, hi-comp pistons, big port head, and small port intake cam with a big port exhaust cam.

I have a small port head too but I wanna try this setup first with a working TVIS to see how it runs. I'm sure Doc will chime in on this, but I'd like some additional input on injectors and such. I'm planning on running my stock ecu with a retuned maf and the blue top injectors for now.

And yes I know I'm going to have to make a drain hole in the big port head for the oil return on the passenger side of the block. No big deal, drill hole, tap hole, screw in fitting... and go!

if you're running High Comp pistons why not go with high comp injectors or some 20v injectors?

or gze ones since you're getting it tuned

20v are side feed injectors, gze are low impedence, best bet early model 3sge injectors, 4efte or smallport 4age 265cc's

How are you going to retune your factory ecu? Just the dodgy POT resistor on the water temp sensor, dick around til its not running rich?

If your spending what your spending why not get a Apexi Super AFc II? They are only about $120USD i imagine they are about the same there?

I have ZE injectors. I got all the parts for practically nothing. I have 2 kids and a wife who's a stay at home mom. Money is always tight. You can readjust the maf rich and lean and I know how. That's the initial plan with just blue top injectors. If I need more fuel at that point, I'll get bigger injectors.

yea you should be fine with the blue top injectors...I would highly recommend some cam gears so you can fine tune the cams since your swapping cams and going hi comp just to be safe...and if it needs additional fuel we can set up the cold start to kick on at a certian RPM easy to do...Then if you have to go with a new sheet metal intake and put what ever injectors you want...Im going to be looking for BT ITBS cause i think i want them on my 16 valve...

That's the initial plan. here's the setup...

Redtop block w/ oil squirters(from a '91 Geo Prizm GSi)
7 rib Bigport crank and rods(42mm rods and crank)
New hi-comp pistons
Big port(bluetop) head with oil return hole drilled and tapped
Smallport intake cam or ZE intake cam(have both haven't decided which I'll run yet)
Bigport exhaust cam
Stock intake with TVIS eliminated
Stock maf(re-tuned)
Stock Bluetop ecu
Stock Bluetop injectors
Bluetop MR2 distributor
ZE valve covers

Would love some adjustable cam gears, but as my budget is +/- $0, I will have to wait for those.

Mine has been disconnected since I got the car 2 1/2 years ago. bt20v has the exact same car... Before his rebuild, I would pull on him no matter what with comparable mods. It wasn't lots of car lengths but I would just creep away from him. The other night we did a 5th gear pull from 40 mph and I was pulling even in the low rpms where his tvis would be closed. Plus it's one less thing to have to worry about!

I missed second @$$! I guess you're entitled to a few of them... (this happens alot when you've been friends with someone almost 15 years and you're both car guys)
