I've been looking at a different stand alone engine management systems for a little while now. although I wanted to see if anyone on this forum was running stand alone, and what their thoughts on the stand alone they run are.

I have had apexi and microtech. I am now on megasquirt and I have to say I think on an overall judgment I like the megasquirt.

AEM, Autronic, Haltech, Hondata (but you have to modify and use a Honda distributor - ask Will ;) ), Megasquirt

ya I was starting to lean towards a haltech system... but even then... there's quite a few different version of each. would it just depend on what I need/want to do with the engine? I am looking for something a little user friendly as I'll have to change the tuning due to the dyno guy here not knowing import stuff real well.

aem and micro tech are other options I've been looking at. so many options and choices haha. I'll be the one tuning my car on the dyno. the guy last night even let me drive my car on the dyno. he told me what I should change and I did all the adjusting on the car. it was actually really nice. so if I f-bombed something up I could only be pissed at myself. lol.

Ok so I've noticed there are a lot of variables with stand alone... do these generally come with all the stuff like connectors/harness' etc. I understand I'll have to swap out my CAS and my ignition packs due to the wasted spark system... I'm dipping into stuff I don't have a ton of knowledge with yet. I know what stand alone is and what it does, but the details is above me.

I'm just unsure of what "version" or model of like a Haltech I would need... seems as if they are variances between each one. how would I find out between different brands would fit my needs, and for future upgrades like if I decide to go with a turbo or something.

I don't even know if I want to dip into the stand alone stuff yet or not. might just try to get the car to lean out a little, and then leave it the hell alone.

the Microtech system would cost about $12-1500 to get into it. not to shabby. fuel and ignition control plus some cool options. imma leaning towards haltech or micro tech. they seem to have the best "bang for the buck" lol

probably some random person that learned souly from w3schools.com don't get me wrong it's a good website, but anyone can follow tutorials haha

I think if you sell a product... you could at least put up all the features and details of what it does and comes... and a "BUY" option.... lol

Why would you have to swap out your CAS? The stock VR sensor works fine for what you are probably going to do. If you go MS2pcb3.0< you can completely ditch whole VAST setup and clean the bay up a ton. I <3 my MS but it was a real headache getting her to run %100. Still only about %90 done. :/

You have to remember the amount of info for MS on a 4ag is more then you might ever need... info in English that is. And MS is just awesome when it come to customer support!
