or it could be that the car sat for 4 years in the same place in texas heat and it might have just warped the axles causing it to bend slightly thus causing the wobble. just a thought.

could be, but it did have a stock lsd and it was never hit. i know a guy who run's a welded diff on his 86's for like 7 years and not have a problem with axles and he did auto x i am running a welded simply because i am completley broke with no money my stock lsd was worn to krap it would not even grab even when the road was wet and i would try to burn out it would stop fighting and it would barley skid on 1 side so i went with a welded cheap, and it gets the job done. lets not get off topic though, go ahead and get a welded diff as something temporary see if you like it if not invest in a good lsd. i know a guy who is selling technical trax lsd with a can of oil for like 630 bux but he stops selling it today on the 28th as the last day. ive talked to taka and hiro before they like to use the os giken lsd because they said it lasts for a very long time but it is very pricey like 1200 i think.

just to substantiate nt66's statement, no differential will warp an axle due to it's linear rotation. whether it's open or an lsd, it is static in the housing and only it's gears rotate. should the differential move position and become mis-aligned, the gears would gradually begin to grind and soon after seize up or just immediately seize up depending on the misalignment.
then what may happen is the axles may brake at the splines. warp axles can be attributed to either damage prior to install, damage to the rear housing or side impact on the wheel hub. warpage is plausible but with high heat. could be that the previous owner never changed the diff fluid or added any if it had a leak and drove it "dry". this can generate a lot of heat and with weight loaded on the wheels, etc...
anyway, yes back on topic.
