you can save your self a lot of time by using a wirewheel on an angle grinder, instead of all the sanding. It will also get the burs and pits out of the aluminum. my .02

naw we're gonna clear coat it with an aluminum polish that seals the pores of the metal.

what stuff is that you are using? i have never heard of a product like that. is it a one time application?
