Trying to get my 20v running....

I know this might be kinda vague....
I have a 1985 corolla SR5 that I have been attempting to swap in a 20v ST.
I have installed all the necessary equipment to do the GTS conversion and the 20v is in...
The wiring harness was done by Dr.Tweak and is all plugged up...
when I turn the car on the engine idles for about 30 - 40 seconds then slowly loses RPMs until it dies.
I am not 100% sure that all the vacuum lines are correctly configured...
Any ideas?

will it stay running if you work the throttle or does it die out regardless of throttle position? if it dies even if you work the throttle you need to see if fuel or spark is cutting out.
if it stays running go over the iac lines and make sure you have no vacuum leaks.you can always adjust the throttle stop screw i showed you to maintain idle.
do you still have the fuel pump wired to a switch? make sure its still running and you might wanna replace the filter too since it had all that rust run through it.
if fueling is not your issue then check to see what the timing is doing with a timing gun.
scan for codes.
mick is not working see if you cant talk him into coming over. any day but Thursday we gotta bunch of stuff to do then.

use this to cap off any lines that you may not be using.
im not using a vacuum line for power steering, or any idle up valves/solenoids on my BT. in fact, i think all i have hooked up are the IAC, Brake Booster, and MAP vacuum lines...

From that picture it seem like all the vacuum lines are right...
If i open the throttle slightly it will rev then die down, but if I let it go before it dies it will return to idle unless the engine had been running for the 30 seconds...
If i open the throttle fast it will rev high like it should...

also if i keep the throttle open the engine will stay on...

go over mandms link. its pretty laid out there. if they are all right check for vacuum leaks.definitely sounds like a vacuum routing\leak aft maf sensor issue. bet if you just adjusted the throttle stop it would idle just fine with no issue. i drove the last 4 months in my corolla with iac welded shut.

I adjusted the throttle stop but its still having the same issue..
I am going to double check the vacuum lines tonight

to check if you have a leak, take the big hose going to the IAC off and put your thumb over the port it goes to on the engine while the car is running, if the car immediately dies, then there shouldnt be a leak.
if all else fails...start from the beginning.
is it getting fuel?
is it getting air?
is it getting spark?
are they all in time?
Also...i dont know the situation, but was the car running after the GTS swap with a 16v?
Also: what ignition/dizzy setup are you using, and is this the AFM or MAP version ST?

it never had a 16v
its using the stock st dizzy with the firewall mod and is afm based.

so it has an intake manifold that covers the ITBs?
does it have an AFM flap like the 16v does? if its stuck closed, doesnt that affect how the engine runs?

ok so i double checked the vacuum lines and they look correct...
I did find a hole that the guy that sold me the intake had drilled into one of the sleeves that was leaking air behind the AFM... I plugged it up and now it will sustain an idle but its really low...
I took it out for a test run and when i apply the breaks the engine idles extremely low...
also if i try to give it gas it revs up but will not sustain the RPM.. it slowly dies unless i push it to the floor...
:/

oh and the fuel situation is all taken care of and I replaced the filter at the pump... 0 rust now :D

Fuel = yes
air = yes (100% now.. i hope)
spark = yes
timing = i hope so but not 100% sure
Its running with a 20v ST, it never had a 16v in it
AFM dizzy... the stock one from the AE101
ill try the plugging of the IAC and see what happens...
Thanks for the INFO!!
