so thur. night im on my way home and im right by my house when the light turned green i turned into where i live and my car starts to rev at 5k almost like it was idling at 5k out of nowhere, so i parked, turned the car off, turned it back on and it was idling at 5k again -__-

then left the car off all night and tried it again and everything was fine

then friday the car drove fine all day no issues then at night i was dropping a friend off then went to get gas and the car kept turning off on me right as i made it to the gas station eventually filled it up and the car stopped turning off, then saturday there were no problems at all

then today not too long ago i drove the car around all morning no issues, then not too long ago it started turning off on me again as i turned into where i live and i was stuck it wouldn't turn back on also looked like some smoke came from under the hood so i pushed it in a parking spot then tried to turn it back on to check and see then it came back on but it was idling at 5k again -__-

anyone have any idea what this could be??

try swapping out your ignitor & coil with a known good set. if it doesn't fix it swap out your dizzy.

hmmm. i dont think the high idle could come from a bad coil. i would point my finger at the TPS. if it was going out it would act erratically, and stall the motor...

it could be the tps but with either of the ignition components going out, you can begin to experience erratic timing behavior as well as changes in rev limit point, etc...

neither of you have any extra tps or ignitor eh?

i just replaced mine. it wasn't the issue after all. i'll have to see if i can find it though. your more then welcome to come up here and look with me. chris' garage is a mess. lol

and your right about that dan haha we had trouble finding anything esp when doin my brakes haha but yea hopefully i can get my hands on some parts and see if anything makes this issue better

also tonight after driving the car around it felt like it didn't want to pick up speed like i was goin home from somewhere and felt like i was doin 40 on the hwy home -_-

no matter how hard i pressed the gas pedal down it felt like it didn't wanna go anywhere any ideas??

cat clogged? head gasket going out?

well i don't have a cat on the car had it removed b/c it was goin bad and headgasket goin out? i really would hope not but im not sure on that one

It could be that your maf is going out or needs to be checked that or injectors need cleaning.

checked more into it a day ago and it seems like the 4th cylinder is goin :/
