Megasquirt?

Hey guys. I recently did a JDM smallport hi-comp swap in my corolla and decided that I should go megasquirt to manage the engine. From what I've read, going standalone/a different management would allow for more power gains, options, etc.

So I was wondering if any of y'all had any input/experience on doing this. I've been reading the DIYautotune article that a guy wrote for his MR2. But man, this stuff is so confusing and overwhelming.

So any help/input would be great.

-Thanks

yeah it can be pretty hard I am running it currently and I love it. One thing you have to decide is do you want it to control spark and fuel or just fuel

A friend of mine had a mitsu... but.... it had problems at 120k. He just got another one.... and now the engine is throwing MAF codes and lean codes.... when we haven't even touched it.

But ive seen em on the 1/4 and ive been impressed.

But to stay on topic- When I get an EFI engine.... eventually, I'm definately going to use the mini-MS. Probably on my V6 swap if I ever get around to finding the engine.

Plus you can find base maps for MS all over the net. Plus im sure others would let you have their setup parameters if you ask nicely.

All and all its a very versatile system.

using other peoples maps is a bad idea unless its just to get the car started. If you want MS to control fuel and spark your really going to need a wideband and someone that knows how to use it
