Aftermarket Tach/limiter

I have been toying around with this idea for some time now. I have been wanting to make a RELIABLE rev-limiter that can be adjusted with the turn of a dial. Well, since I had just gotten into micro's I wanted to make it micro controlled. That.... worked kinda, But it became inaccurate after a certain RPM because the micro wasn't able to pick up the signal from the dizzy. Then I thought about putting a cam sensor and a notch plate on the cam..... but that never happened. Then I though about using the aftermarket tach from the ford trash I bought, but use the shift light to trigger a board I made that turns on a relay... which cuts power to the ignition coil. I finally got around to installing the tach, wiring it, and testing it. IT WORKS! Ill draw up a schematic for the board and post it in a bit.
Now I can adjust the shift light so I can limit my revs to wherever the hell I feel like!! woot.

do you really need to change the rev limit on the fly? Interesting work though

I still dont understand the point what would you ever need a 100rpm limiter for?

that is actually pretty cool.
in all honesty your cosmetic ideas are well founded but turn out horrible but in general you're a damn intelligent guy

Why thank you.

you dont, but its adjustable from anywhere between 0rpm's and 10k. If you need to adjust it lower than idle, sounds like a user error, not a mfg error.
