what does it mean when the Charge and Brake lights come on at the same time and stay on in the dash?
My car is an sr5 carbed so it doesn't have a check engine light.
All fluids are ok so whats the deal here.

The alternator is dieing, or the wiring to the alternator has a short. The brake light and the charge light are wired together for when the alternator fails to maintain voltage. Make sure your alternator plugs are in there good and your battery connections are good, take her down to autozone and test it. It is more than likely a bad alternator.

I just changed the alt belt. hopefully that will help. I broke the power stearing belt changing it so now it back to autozone. But, I've been running the car all week with the light in the dash on. If I do need a new alternator I'm screwed. I can't afford a new one now and this is my dailly now. but if I been going all week just one the battery it shows how little power a carbed engine uses. Or will my mk2 Supra Alt work?

it probably a bad alternator or the wiring right at the alternator is bad. Dont unpug the light because then you wont know what its doing and if those lights are coming on somthing is wrong with the charging system. I had this same problem with my car a bunch of times and it ran for very long periods of time before the alternator would fail completly so your probably good for a little while but you deffinatly have a problem

lol I had this exact same problem on my gts. I went through about 4 alternators (two of them completely seized), 3 belts, and about 300 bucks before I checked out my wiring and just wrapped up the exposed wire. I was getting an unwanted ground (acts like a short but it's actually grounding out on something off and on). Wiring is cheaper than an alternator and it wont hurt to check and make sure you have no exposed and or frayed wire somewhere in you alt system.
