Rear shock alternatives (for those looking for alternatives)

Post by dr.occa »

i've been working and hanging on to (hording is more like it ::) ) this and thought maybe it might be of some use. please don't squander it. it's in a constant state of flux because new shock alternatives tend to make themselves known when not sought. these are a few interesting rear shock alternatives for those interested.

don't just pay attention to compressed/extended length, pay also attention to travel when referencing this "aid". enjoy.

*it would be appreciated if you would sight proper credit for this should you decide to "share" it with others. thanks in advance.

Interesting specs Jonas :).

You can use the Camaro & older Corolla shocks for sure but Ive never head about the others.

If they all fit, it would be interesting to try the Ranger shocks for their short stroke. The valving is all wrong on most of them bc of the weight differences but Im sure they wouldn't be too bad.

the ford & volvo options i included not only because of their "short stroke" qualities for the 86 but also because of their stiffer response: the fronts from the 94 ford is designed for a heavier engine and front end as well as more rugged use on the AWD models. the volvo shocks from an obviously larger and heavier chassis.

is there any alternative to the fronts as well that would give a shorter stroke as well as being stiffer?
