my te71 vert

Post by hvguy »

the engine is a POS abused and never taken care of mess....

The first time I got it started it didnt have this noise, but w/e ill just drive it till it goes away.

I finally swapped out that unreliable garbage LSD and swapped it for a always works, never think twice welded. lulz.

And it sits about 1.25 inches off the ground because of the frame supports. Just crappy pics and nassers fail camera lighting for now. Ill get more when my new camera comes in the mail.

will, didn't you own one of these ugly old Griffiths ;'P

actually, IIRC it's a TE75 right before the AE chassis.

if that griffith that orlando is posting has a 4AC then it would be the AE72 chassis you're talking about but griffith also began performing the conversion on the TE chassis w/ the T motors in them. what really determined the chassis code for the rollas was the family model motor: e.g. if a TE72 had a 4A-C from the factory, it was most likely coded as and AE71 chassis.

and IIRC, your griffith (a.k.a. sunrunner) did have a 4A-C equipped in it so you're right, it was an AE72. if orlando's "vert" were outfitted with a 2/3TC from the factory his chassis code would be TE75 but NOT a TE71.

but, if the firewall says TE71 then nt66 and i are both wrong and toyota is just as confusing as ever even 20+ years later.

just take a pic of the chassis code on the firewall and post it up why don't you orlando. now i'm really curious how predictable and consistent toyota was.

Small update while im thinking of it.

Has stripped out ring and pinion... hardcore style. As in if the ring sits just right, the car wont go anywhere, but just makes a squealing noise.

Still slammed, and gets stuck in my backyard when I move it.

has headers i built

powdercoated red valve cover

rev limiter that is fail as ever... my old tach broke in the move, so im using a autometer trash tach thats slow as hell in reading rpm's.

lights and such work now.

HORN WORKS!!!! first corolla ever to have a stock working horn.

proxies in the front, falkens in the back. both new "first new set of tires ive ever bought"

bout to tear it all to the ground and put a new engine in. Still not sure yet, I was thinking the new corolla XRS engine, but not sure of availability and price. And ill probably use the W158 rx7 tranny I have in stock and rebuild the LSD and give it a go. Otherwise ill use the ring and pinion from my auto diff and stick with welded.
