D1GP Pro Drift. Round 1 Recap. NST AE86...

Post by NonStopTuning »

NST At D1GP USA Round 1. Saturday Top 16.

NST Drifter Will Parsons put on a GREAT performance this weekend at the first round of the D1GP, in Anaheim California. As the only AE86 Corolla in attendance, Will put on a great show and was a big crowd favorite with the SoCal fans.

Will made it into the round of Top16 Saturday and was paired up against Daigo Saito, the 2008 D1GP season champion. Will had a very solid run and made no mistakes following Daigo, but the 500+ horsepower advantage of Daigo's Chaser was just too much for the little Corolla to overcome. Daigo stayed very close to Will while chasing, and made the run a very exciting one for the fans.

Many thanks to all our SoCal fans who cheered us on during round 1. We hope to see a lot of you out in Florida for round 2 at the end of May.

Awesome run! Yup, thats always the case with the Corollas. Not enough power. But Will pushed that corolla as hard as it could be pushed!

It has taken me a few days to recover from the journey to Anaheim and I am finally ready to say thank you to all of the people that that made it possible. Mike, thank you so much for letting us use the shop and for all the time, effort and heart that you have invested. Your council alone has been priceless. Jonas, thanks for the use of you welders, without them we would have had no brakes, clutch and no exhaust ( I did get the small one to work well and I think Will is a better mig welder than I am). Colin, thank you for the beautifully made manifold and plumbing. Mickey, thanks for the repaint, the car looked great out there among the giants. Lawrence, Poonin and Mikey thanks so much for all your help over the trip ( the soldering by Poonin and Mke was incredible). Thanks to Chesea, Mike Peters, Josh Steele, Shaun and everyone else I have not remembered at this moment. Thanks to the angel in the angels parking lot who just happened to know how to fix the megasquirt computer. Will, Thanks so much for your effort, heart and no quit, you are a hero. The whole trip was great and sometimes I am the luckiest man on the planet
