what's this jumpy little gauge???
by the way, your 86 is FAST tom. from the angle, as a virtual passenger, it seemed like the car was ready to get away at a moments notice. like the horse would runoff with you if it sensed ANY weakness at the reins if you know what i'm getting at.
how's the car responding for you kevlar and what are your impressions regarding the w58 swap!?
please do share sir.

Thanks, yep the car is a handfull-yesterday moreso than usual as the temps were low(only 9 degrees above freezing in fact and windy as hell so no asphalt temps either)and the lot was dirty as hell.Up here they sand the parking lots in the winter, snow melts and leaves the pores in the surface full of dirt even after sweeping.I was also using Toyo R888's,not the best autox tire by a mile-combine that with an engine that isn't super responise off boost due to the 8.0 cr and then triples its power nearly instantly when the boost ramps up and you get a car thats always on the endge.Lots of spins yesterday but I wasn't one of them.
The jumpy looking gauge is the wide band O2,its not that jumpy btw-I too noticed in the vid but its just the angle its being seen at.
I'm plenty happy with the swap,I don't have a speedo but I was flat out truckin in 2nd gear,in the fastest part in the middle if you listen you can hear I'm actually lifting to set up for the bunch of offset gates.A couple runs before than I didn't lift and was REALLY moving when I went in there and couldn't quite get the dance through right and coned. No idea how high but 8k in 2nd gear with 22.5" tires and the stock 4.3 has a good top end speed.
The shift to 2nd is no longer the huge gap it was in the t-50 and the throw is shorter as well. The clutch seems fine,I did a little break in before the event started back and forth across the lot, even brand new I left tracks through 2nd and 3rd no problem. :D

great to hear. yeah, it was during the high speed section where you're setting up for the staggered gates is where you get more of that sense of "is it going to get away from me here???" feeling.kevlar corolla wrote:...

Actually the worst place for it trying to bite me was after the slalom where I was trying to keep it nice and tight around the last cone.Rolling into the throttle from barely a walking speed in 2nd and it would just blow the tires away about halfway between the 2 turns.
Just added a little excitment-and opposite lock to the left when I really needed to be going to the right.
