homemade LED light bar for my ae86
homemade LED light bar for my ae86
I love lights, just to let everyone know.
So I had to incorporate as much flashy lighting as I can into my drifter. I came up with a cheap solution...
Build a flasher out of a LM556 and a handfull of other parts and use it to control the old ground effects kit from my 4runner..... Yes it had ground effects.
To start off, I had red green and blue LED's in a long strip. X4.
I was thinking of putting 1 strip, stacked, and recessed in my hood schoop. bondo a small slit into the back for 2 more strips and let the magic unveil.
After some R&D I came up with schematic and loaded it all into a perf board, gobbled it into a workbox and here's what it looks like.
All stainless and brass hardware with watertight box filled with insta-gasket = bulletproof design

Ill post more later when I have it installed tomorrow

I broke a magnet with a hammer, and glued it in place of the bracket so the upper light bar is removable just in case.

the mounts
the lights glued, ready for mounting bracket
