does anyone maybe have pics of the outer tie rods on the different years? maybe 85-87?

my outer tie rods are bad and defintely need to be changed but the ones im getting from autoparts stores are way too short im not sure if my steering rack was a power rack or manual rack maybe it's a power and the p/o removed it but im not sure if there's a difference between the outer tie rods on either rack and in between the years how/if it changes

any help/pics would be much appreciated

there shouldn't be a difference between the zenki and koukis, ps or manual. it may depend on the brand you pick up. you can't go wrong with moog. i believe moog also has them in 2 different types: with a grease fitting and w/o.

make sure if you're having the counter person look it up that it's for the RWD coupe model. don't insist on the hatch. most of the major over the counter parts stores have just the coupe in their database.

yea true i told them hatch gts etc. the usual but what is moog? where can i find that at? i just need a decent replacement my outers have wayyyy too much play it's not good at all

MOOG is a brand. they're getting a bit harder to find these days. try Raybestos (Oreilly's may have it as a Spicer brand - don't ask me i didn't make it up) p/n: 4011315 or autozone's Duralast brand: ES2243R

I work at Oreillys, we carry Moog suspension components and I have these on my car. ALL Moog parts have grease fittings and designed based on stock oe replacements. Anytime a weakness is found in the oe design, they completely redesign it. I'll look up prices tomorrow at work and try to post them up after work. P/N too!

not all moog parts have the grease fittings.

maybe for the ae86 but not all moog outers have a zerk fitting. i install them for a living and we mostly use just moog.

i'll have to confirm what alan stated. i've installed moog outers that either had the grease fitting or not.

i've come across this even for the 86s. it's possible either models may have eventually been superceded by the other but that's what i've experienced first hand as well. either work fine i'm sure.

i hate grease sealed units ftw!
