Programmable sequential ignition - untested proposal

Post by dr.occa »

I've drawn up this diagram to illustrate what I'm proposing:

Image

This uses a stand alone programmable ignition setup that incorporates the FORD EDIS modules where only the positive and negative portion of any coil on plug is necessary e.g. Megajolt Lite or Megasquirt.

These systems require a 36-1 trigger wheel and VR Sensor (pick up).

The detail I'm still unclear about is if the vr sensor would still need to be positioned 50° (5 teeth as per a V8) before the missing tooth of the trigger wheel or would it need to be 90° (9 teeth as per an I4).

Iv thought about this same theory. i would think the vr sensor would need to be set up the same as the edis 8 at 50 deg. i dont know enough about edis tho. im sure you know more then i do on this subject.
