Quoted from Craigslist

I have a 1985 rear wheel drive corolla also known as a tureno AE86 this was my first car i have owned it for the last 12 years recently re-built the head (3 years ago). The only issue with the car is a main bearing has spun on the crank. the car still works and runs and moves but I have no place to work on the car or I would keep it. its a truly easy fix, drop the oil pan pop the caps replace the bearings bolt it back up start the car. The body is straight and solid interior has a tear in the drivers seat from climbing in and out of the car over the last 27 years. if you are interested contact me some time before Sunday or the car will be on a tow truck headed for a pick-a-part. If you are interested in the car and have a way to haul it off txt anytime or call before 8PM @ 281-917-9420

pick a part only pays like 300 for that car... why are you asking 700? I'll call them and verify their price for pickup. Does it have the converter and a battery? I'll pay what they are offering and pick it up

Alex, pick a part has money and buys in volume. They can afford to sell their junkers at low prices. Private sellers don't have that option all the time. There's no point in "vetting" people on their prices. There's usually no malice or hood-winking intended. $700 doesn't sound like a big conspiracy price here from my vantage point. Let's not do this y'all. That's not a really good haggling method anyway.

I've seen dozens of great ae86's in the LKQ yards, I was just trying to save a good shell. I just have a problem with people selling any car let alone a ae86 to a junkyard that will not resell or dismantle parts properly, for a different price than someone that will give your old car a chance at second life, wheres your heart at?

It says "Quoted" so I don't think this is pecx's car. I was just giving everyone advice the next time you see something like this. ALWAYS use every method you can to get a car at a lower price. Its okay if you don't think its a good haggling method, but just know that I have proven it to work on a lot of cars. If you lowball somebody that is desperate situation the worst they can say is no, some people may hang up on you... big deal.. call from another number and try another offer. Best thing to do on CL finds that you really want is to multiple IP flag it for spam and get the ad taken down so there is less competition.

Here's what you're doing in a nutshell Alex: you're heckling people who don't rightly deserve it. $700 is NOT an unfair price to ask for the car that was spotted on Craigslist. Commie/slave-labor prices aren't necessarily the norm. Not everyone needs to be called out or have their for sale item all of a sudden get down graded by a "you need to lower the price because I think I know better" attitude. Besides, do we really need to always be shopping our advice especially when no one has been asking for our advice?

Not heckling, just negotiating. I think its unfair trying sell this for 700 to a individual and 300 to a junkyard. If the seller did not mention the junkyard I would not have said anything. If somebody tells you there is a offer on the table for something you will likely ask how much, then offer slightly more.

I just called the guy btw. He has a standing offer of 450 by tomorrow (guy is supposed to get it tomorrow). He said first person with 450 cash its theirs, clear title.

I really just don't want to see this at lkq...

UPdate: Car was sold to someone that needed some parts, hes removing complete a/c system/ dash/ hood/ wants the wheels and is being offered "340" by the junkyard. He said he would let it go for 350.

Alex do you know how who has it? I might get it if he let it go for 350.
