Additional information and mods
Bought this car from an elderly lady who religiously brought it in for service at my previous employer, Fred Haas Toyota Country. I was always asking if she would sell it to me because for the mileage and year, it is exceptionally clean.
One day she brought it in because it was overheating and was told it needed a headgasket. She didn't have the money, having recently done the timing belt package with water pump, seals, etc. So I grasped the opportunity and she sold it to me.
So, in the past 1-2 months this car has been totally redone engine wise. I took the head to G&G Performance and ordered a FULL Toyota Factory engine gasket set. G&G did an outstanding job on the mill, valve job, and valve seals. I also had the valve cover powder coated while the head was off because it was nasty as well.
I was hoping to use this car as a cool/rare commuter back and forth to work, but I already have another reliable car and I've put way more money into this car than I wanted to. So I'm trying to take cut my losses sooner than later.
3SFE engine with auto transmission. Build date is 10/87 and was sold 3/88. The J as the first letter in the VIN signifies it was built in Japan.
Bads:
24yr old original paint and body
25% life left on tires
10yr old suspension pieces need replacing
P/S pump is leaking
Needs blower motor for AC/Heater
Cruise does not work
Goods:
4/'14 Tags and Inspection
Runs and Drives well
New BMC
ALL fluids replaced
Timing Belt Package including WP, ALL Gaskets, Belts, etc.
Full tank of gas
Throw on some KYB's, wheels/tires, and cut the springs! You'd have a sweet/rare daily. Obviously Toyota wants somewhere around $150-$200 for the blower motor, but I've seen aftermarket for around $70.
Looking for $2,500 OBO! Can't stress the OBO enough.
Thanks,
Andrew
