Kyo's *E7* Sedan

Post by Kyo »

Warning this will be slow and not updated often... lol okay now we got that out of the way..

Let us start at the beginning..

In the wee hours of Tuesday Morning I get a PM from "82te72" on HR.net giving me the heads up on a old corolla.. So I think to myself sure why not, Lets go give it a look.. Tuesday afternoon I give the owners a Call to see what is wrong with the car.. ( was told does not run and tranny is shot ) but other wise straight. I ask for some photos give them my email and wait.. and wait... Almost giving up I get a email late Tuesday giving me a idea of what they had for sell.. Now after reviewing the photos and info I was given there asking price was fair !! but I always like to haggle so I decided to offer 50 less then asking to keep every one happy ( me i got it less then asking, them i did not low ball) then I waited in tell Wednesday Morning thinking on it.. I give them a call around 10am Wednesday with My offer they accept and tell me to pick it up by nights end and they get off work around 4:30-5pm I agree, and in a mad rush I call my old man asking to borrow the car trailer no dice my uncle has it.. call all the u-haul places in town for a Flat bed car trailer and still no luck call the next town over and find one trailer... I rush over to pick it up. Now we fast forward pass me driving 4 hours to his place. and I arrive to find this..

Not to bad for a 1981 Corolla I think, and being in the rush I was to get home. I pay the man load up the trailer and head back with out looking at it to much more.. I get home late Wednesday say F**k it and leave it on the trailer till morning going right to bed. wake up early today go out side to my new non running TE72 sedan And do this...

I then proceed to give the car a good one over, and coming from Cali the car is 95% Rust Free (5% to be explained below) and took pics While I was at it..

After taking a quick look around the car I decided to see what is wrong with the car.. Put in some plugs fix the firing order on the wires and Bam!!!
she is alive.. (though she hates to idle, I will tackle that later )

after that video I took her for a drive to find out to my surprises the transmission is fine just needs a new throw out bearing and clutch...

Now that dam compressor sound coming from the engine bay was driving me nuts so I go back under the hood to see what is going on.. And I find this

Image

Yes the Fuel pump is just siting there.. with the wiring just stuffed into the wiper motor plug.. wtf.....

Image

At this point I decided I need some coffee and I need to take the winter tires it came with out of the trunk.. and this is were my smile turns up side down.. ( my own fault for not checking ) but when I empty out the trunk I find the "R" word !!!! RUST !!!!.. the spare tie well is shot has rust and some holes from the rust.. the guy I bought it from left the trunk open the last few years it has been sitting in the NW..
Image

all in all I get what i pay for and given the rest of the chassis is rust free and never been in any accident not even a fender bender.. I think I will just fix the rust.... ( any one want to cut out there TE72 Sedan Trunk ??? )

And there you have it the start to my TE72 Sedan...
(sorry for my poor grammar and punctuation, I am to tired to care right now )

Thanks guys, Today I Got the Motor Running and holding a Idle... Also made a temp Fuel pump Mount.
there is a strong smell of fuel but no signs of leaks and the rear end is making a whining noise when driven almost metal on metal sound.. Diff fluid low?? will check tomorrow as well as find a better place to wire in the Fuel Pump Turning my windshield wipers on to start the car is kinda irritating.. I also located a Rear Trunk spare tire well, A semi Local / fellow member on HR.net is going to cut out for me.. I should be picking that up my next day off work..

Sorry about the wind it never stops around here...
