wrecked the mx83

Post by Nasser »

just this morning at about 6:50 my mx83 was wrecked on mason off of I-10 it had the cleanest interior and everything with only 63k on it i decided to leave early for school so i can slow it down a bit cus i realized how much the car means to me and it got wrecked the same day.

so heres how it happened they were doing construction a day before or something and some dumb ass decided to leave a big ass sign blocking 1 of the 2 lanes (the left). it was raining pretty hard a ford expedition was in front of me so i couldn't see what was further ahead of it. she apparently was talking to her passenger or some shit and didn't see the sign until it was right up to her so she slammed on her brakes me being about 3 car lengths behind i pressed mine fairly hard assuming their is a car in front of her slowing down and will keep going not stop a second later i realized she was at a dead stop so while pressing the brakes even harder i glanced to my right and some prick sped up so i couldn't cut him off, i knew i wasn't going to be able to go anywhere cus the curb on my left so i kept on the brakes they locked up i knew it would hit her but i hoped for the best. boom the crash happened and in disbelief i got out of the car and thought to myself i am dreaming i looked at the damage and the whole front end is just completely f-bombed to shit fenders are bent to a peek the hood is bent to a peek the rad and everything is just smashed in.

i confronted the woman and asked her why she had slammed her brakes at the last moment instead of slowing down before hand and not paying attention. she gave me the dirtiest look with a smirk on her face and claimed it was my fault. the cops showed up and i argued the fact that it was her fault and that some retard blocked the road with a huge sign and they said it does not matter in the state of texas if u hit some1 from the back its ur fault and on top of that i got issued some bs failure to control speed!?!?! even thou a 3700 pound machine traveling at about 40mph isnt meant to come to a sudden stop especially when it is raining super hard? i am just thinking to myself why the f-bomb me why did this have to happen to me in this car.

anyways the car's front end is f-bombed a shop said itl cost 1,500 to 2000 to fix it with a new front end but i am not sure about how the structural integrity of the car will be although id love to because theirs prob no other cressida on the face of this earth this clean. my best bet is to find a straight shell and transfer over everything interior and all and just paint it. it is just such a f-bombing shame my neck hurts like hell and i cant believe i got the blame. i dunno what to think right now.

i will post pictures of the cressida up later on when i get the chance 2.

ive never had to judge on weather a car is fixable or not but the driver side is fine the center is bent back to the front of the motor and the passenger side is smashed in to about the front of the strut tower.

hes right. judging by the pics, insurance companys would total a car like this n a heartbeat! if the frame is bent(even an inch) in either direction(left or right) the car is a total loss. if yoiu decide to settle this outside of insurance, there is a slight chance the car is salvagable but would require you paying out of your own pocket. you might be able to locate a whole front clip ($$$$$$) and transfer it over.
FRONT CLIP:
core support
fender aprons
subframe front section (important) if damaged
fenders
hood
bumper(cant tell if it was damage or not)
radiator
a/c condenser
and anything else related or attached to the front of the engine.
Or you can get another cressida with a blown engine (blown headgasket) for 500-600 dollars and just transfer everthing over.
itll probably be alot cheaper.
hope this helps

this is horrible and depressing it is starting to sink in now i went to sleep and i kept dreaming of the moment i hit the car and realized what a loss it was. i have liability insurance so they cant claim anything over it if i fix it myself it will still be a clear title. my question is this eric if i swapped over a front clip would it be just as stiff as it was before?

i am not sure what to do, rick is fixing my corolla cus i cant get the starter off even after trying for 2 hours because theirs a heat shield under the manifold and 1 on the starter as well i couldn't get a socket wrench to the cable to get it off and the manifold i cant take off, plus i cant work my neck is stiff. i might drive the corolla for the rest of the year and just sort out this cressida deal in the summer brake.

check your insurance. if you have a pip plan (persoal injury protection) then you can go to the doctor for your neck and your covered on your insurance up to a certain amount

if the work is done by a good reputable body shop with a good frame machine, it will be just as firm as before. as long as everything is with in specs and welded up nicely (in the crucial spots) there shouldnt be a problem. ive seen worst wrecks get fixed back to perfection(or damn near)

hmm i think its a problem though because it would cost a shit load to fix when i could buy a shell for 400 or 500 bux and swap it all over. the only thing that is making me want to fix her is because its such a shame that it was wrecked because ill never come across another one like it, plus having another shell i can have that sense of security that the body is in fact stable instead of questioning some1's work not knowing how sturdy it is.
