Spin Turn Knob a.k.a. Drift Button

Post by HondaRue »

So a few years ago I bought a Cusco knob from a guy parting out his corolla and liked it for the most part with the exception of one part that seemed to get stuck in the end of my parking brake handle.

When I started putting together one for Heather I picked up a T3 knob from a guy on Club4AG and liked the change in radius so it wouldn't get stuck in the parking brake handle but didn't like the sharp edge at the top of the button.

By the way... it has been mentioned that I'm slightly OCD!

Sooooooooo..... I decided to make one combining the qualities I liked about both designs. Oh yea... I'm a machinist. Here's what I came up with.

Group shots of all 3:

I polished it to match my Greddy shift knob otherwise the finish comes out like the Cusco one. I'm making one for Jonas and Alex so far but if I can find more material I'll keep making them. If anyone wants one let me know and if you want anything changed to the top of the button to make it more unique I'll do whatever I can with what I have available.

Alright... so Jonas's first button was a failure. I had a friend attempt to do the required mill work and IT WAS UGLY! So................. I had to wait until I started working again and got the opportunity to learn how to use a mill myself.

Jonas wanted a "Wood Screw" button. And there will be only 1. I'll never do one again.

I'm going to do a little more finish work on it tomorrow but here's what it looks like tonight
