distributor might be off a tooth..... :? also you mentioned you unplugged the tps and nothing changed, it should have gotten worse if it were working fine. it could just be that you might have a faulty tps that is contributing to the problem.....

i will try moving it 180* just in case.


i swapped ignitors and coils with my brother today and it was still there.

also someone on club 4ag said he had a similar problem and it was his distributor. ill swap that to.

DIDNT LAW HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND HE SWAP THE DISTRIBUTOR I THINK THAT WAS HIS PROBLEM I COULD BE WRONG

try swapping ignitor and distributor.

Car will run fine without an o2 sensor or egr. My previous setup didnt have either hooked up. That water would concern me, but so does the bent ecu. Id offer my stock one but you already tried the other one.

that ecu actually works.... crazy isnt it


i borrowed my little brothers ecu and it still did the same thing. :x

i will swap out dizzy's monday cuz im going to mineral wells tomorrow and i wont be back untill real late.

also the seal is gone in the dizzy and is leaking oil and i notced that the sensor on top is a little loose in the dizzy.

i have my fingers crossed!!

the headgasket was blown on the driverside corner of the #4 cylinder. the metal sealing ring looked perfect but there was no paper left behind it all the way back to the oil galley and water galleys.i hope this is my problem but i still highly doubt it.

ps. the back corner cylinder head bolt was barelly hand tight right ware the headgasket blew.

we will see...

p.s. my brother and i spent 4+ hour in the varsol bin and hot tank(thanks again rutland transmition!!!)trying to clen the most sludged up head ive ever seen in my life!!!

sorry i didnt read the this thread earler just read it today but to some of the answers you found out that the head ggasket was blown and yes you still can have good compression with a blown gasket depending where you blew it at ...

for future refrance and to every one that thinks there head gasket is blown ... like you said you the car wouldnt run right with accurate timing ... easy way to check for head gasket take off the radiator cap and crank over if water shoots the hood its blown. let the car get hot if you can run it not over heat but hot with radiator cap off... if after a while the coolent starts to gargle then does the old faithful trick then its a small pin leak in the head gasket to the water passages. ..

now some time you get blow between to cylynders where the head gasket crush rings has gave way to test this with out spending money if you have a compression checker ( remember most of the time your compression can still be could) take the shretter valve out of the compresion tester hose. screw to the head make sure what ever cylynder your on is on its compression stroke meaning all valves are closed. hook up an air hose to it . make sure the cylynder next to it has the spark plug out reach down cover the spark plug hole with your finger and feel for air if there is then the gasket is blown bwtween the cylynders.

also if you ever read low compression say you had like what i had on my motor a year ago. cyl 1 180 cyl 2 180 cyl 3 180 cyl 4 150 . that caused a false detenation to rule out cracked head or bad gaskets add a little oil to the cylinder not a lot but like half a cap if its the rings the compression will come back or snap like mine did lol... but that was the first time for me to see that out of the 100s of motors i did it to lol...

well it dont help you know but you will to know how to test in the future for any head gasket leak do to leak to water or leak between pistons. . .

and also everyone if you didnt know how to test you do now lol...

if in had a compressor and a leakdown tester i would have known for sure the first time i checked but ohh well.

but you dont always need a lead down tester lol... compression tester hose works just as well just turn down the reg . lol... but if you dont have a compressor then theres a problem lol... blow in it lol... haha lol... just kiddng...
