i use a carter 4070. it puts out at most 7psi un-regulated.rywats wrote:What are you using as a fuel pressure regulator. Is there a certain brand I should look for or will any do?
i had used the holley red pump and had it mounted in the engine bay. that's what may have contributed to its early demise. that is also a high-volume low pressure pump perfect for carbs.
the pump should be mounted no further than a foot away from the tank and level or below. would recommend mounting it above the tank.

Interchangeable Air Correctors & Mains
been needing to add this useful information for mikuni PHH carb users.
Air Correctors and Mains from the BS34 motorcycle carbs are interchangeable with the Mikuni PHH side draughts. Only the Mains are interchangeable with particular Solex side draughts.
for example, one on line source for these particular jets is www.mikesxs.net.

Plugging up the injector ports
Pick up a set of Dorman 5/8" concave Freeze Plugs p/n: 550005 or 550-005
With a metal dowel and a small 4lb sledge, tap them in to the ports with them convex i.e. the concave part facing in towards the injector ports. The reason being is that even though they are already snug, as you tap them in on the con-vexed portion side (which is facing you), you're causing the plug to expand outwards to further take up any gaps that may exist in the injector port. Don't overdue it though. Just enough to get things nice and tight.
