Blacktop 20V swap into a GTS Zenki Coupe at 786Motoring
here's the victim:
786motoring was kind enough to take me on as a new technician. they threw me at an 02 S2000 by replacing the heater core...just for a heater core you wouldn't believe the number of rings of fire you have to jump through for that little thing. anyway, finished the S2000 up right nicely. the owner will be getting her back looking a little better than when he left her. now it's onto a 20v into the above cadaver.
the harness is a mess. i'll be starting on its carcass first thing tomorrow. ARP head studs and cometic gasket (yes, specifically for the 20v; studs and all). found a partially decomposed rat in the trunk. no pictures so don't ask.
more pics to come on the progress.
anyone recognize the car by chance and possibly know the owner? if so, let them know it's in good hands .

it use to be my CAR,for 3 years n it was in the garage for 2 years cause i took the engine n tranny out for rebuilt.I had 3 ae86s park in da house. 2 GTS n 1 SR5.Now the red one was goin to b da drifting bi**h n my new one a daily driver.but things didnt work out very well. had to sell my SR5 n this GTS.It was my firts GTS!it got broken in 3 times!i sold it 4 times but always bought her back.So instead of it goin to car heaven, i sold it to a guy who show that it could love it as much as i did.is better for someone to fix her up, then watch it get crush. Now about the rat, i couldnt tell u.the garage it was keeped on was a house garage n i had a dog also so i think it happpen in my house. But who knows may b it was there sence i bought it for the last time.
TILL IT REDLINES HACHI!!!!!!!!

a few pics of some progress from a couple of weeks back.
the head and block now assembled (arp head studs, washers and nuts). blocked off one of the cooling outlets:
made a dizzy cap off from the original dist. cap, a piece cut from an s14 bumper, some epoxy, a dremel and paint

Re: Blacktop 20V swap into a GTS Zenki Coupe at 786Motoring
the head had come back from the machine shop fully assembled but i still had to pop the cams out to bolt the head up. anyway, since the head just came back, i didn't drill through the rear water ports to join them internally. just didn't want to have a possibility of any shavings left behind anywhere. i modified the rear water housing, cut the front upper water neck flange free from and had the some tig work done.mooreofit wrote:nice. what else you got going on?
modified both the front upper water housing and the rwd h20 housing with 90° brass fittings for a water bypass.
pics soon.
