Question about Camero rear shocks

Post by Slipup »

I searched all over Google but every answer I get is not specific. Is the Camero rear shocks just direct fit or will I need strut tube spacers or anything?

Planned on putting on the ones I picked up last night on Saturday and just wanted to make sure I didn't run into any issues ahead of time so I don't waste time and money getting her up on the lift.

Thanks in advance

rear shocks are a direct short stroke replacement. they should fit without any modification.

the strut tube spacers are only for the fronts short stroke replacements if youre not cutting up the strut tubes.

Thanks for the reply. Well tomorrow should be a good day for the 86 then.
Yeah I still am undecided on the fronts at the moment. I'm still reading on a cheap solution. Can't really afford coil overs so I'm pretty much just throwing the suspension together piece by piece.
Thanks again.

what alan said.

if not coilover you can go with the qa1 12 way adjustable shocks then and go with swift (if you can find 'em) or trd lowering springs.

Ive got 6k TRD front springs for the front was just looking to finish the setup.

But now I'm faced with a bigger problem.

My SRT-4 had a freak accident and the fuel pressure regulator broke one of the clips and popped out of the fuel tank. No problem, easy fix just have to wait on the part from Dodge.

Then today while I was out and about late about 40 minutes away from home it appears the clutch went out in the 86.

The problem being my low income with 2 cars to fix prior to me PCS'ing to Fort Bliss in here shortly. No offense to the 86 community but my SRT is going to get the attention and be taken to Bliss. I'll also need to be replacing the tires on her soon as well.

As for my 86 I'll end up giving it to one of my friends who kept hounding me for it last week. I just can't afford to get both cars towed and replace both parts before I leave. (SRT is at the house but I can't drop the fuel tank in the parking lot on post so I have to get it towed to the Auto Skills Center.)

But thanks for the replies anyhow, never hurts to learn something new.
