afm...map... either way a faulty signal or vacuum leak will have the same effect.

Finally fixed it!!! Restabbed the distributor off a tooth so I couldnt get enough advance out of it. Did that and replaced the o2. Car runs amazing again. And my car had a 7 rib in it stock. Its a weird conglomeration of mismatched parts that apparently Toyota had laying around and threw in some of the last rwd ones. I have the hi comp bottom end with a bigport tvis top end. Still runs afm. bt20v just picked up one thats the same setup as mine and its bone stock. Same motor I got, late 87 run.

And it's back, FML... anyone in the North Dallas area wanna give me a hand with this thing? Everything is mostly stock, aftermarket coil and fuel pump... I dunno wtf to do anymore. And it's pissing me off not being able to figure it out.

Started checking for vacuum leaks, found one at the cold start, fixed that. Re stabbed the dizzy again after looking at bt20v's stock 87 and realizing I was still a tooth off. Fail on my part. Waiting on some silicone to dry then gonna go have a (spirited) drive in it and hope all is well. Anybody in the D side of DFW... there's a small meet tonight in Plano at Park and Coit. I'll be attending with the Levin(so nice to be able to say that), so feel free to come hang out. Usually around 100 cars of various, umm, nature.

Ok so the cold start I got from Brad crapped out(not bitching, it was a used part, oh well) cleaned the crap outta mine and reinstalled it. Replaced the tps with one from an MR2, after modifying the throttle body for it to fit right and read properly. The problem is finally gone!!!!! And my car runs better than it used to. Probably because I have replaced EVERYTHING in the fuel and ignition systems...

And for future reference, an aw11 mr2 tps will work but you have the drill the actuator that the tps rides on(the little thing behind it with the two ears sticking out to align with the tps) as it has a slotted hole that only allows it to mount one way and rotate it about 90 degrees. I still have the tps in the middle of the slotted holes in case adjustment is later needed. But the car runs amazing!!

glad to hear you straightened everything out. good info on the MR2 tps McK. if you get a chance, possibly take some pics for our visual learners (i be one :D) in the tech ref section.

you shouldn't have to worry about a good deal of things now for another 20 years right ;).
