hello new on here

Post by lightsae86 »

hello, i'm new to this site. but i'm originally from club4ag. i noticed it's been down for awhile and i decided to make a username on here. i own a 85 corolla gts. i was in the process of finishing up my 20v blacktop swap but something went wrong and all my valves broke. so now i gotta save up for a new motor. hmm that's about it for now.

welcome to 86garage. yeah, we're not sure what's going with C4AG.

sorry to hear about your 20v mishap...strange. was the head shaved and/or with a thinner head gasket? it should be a non-interference engine unmodified. well, hope it gets all sorted out. welcome again.

it was stock everything. i didn't change anything on it except the water rerouting. and i think it might have been the timing belt that caused it to snap. not positive. and thanks for the welcome :)

Even if the timing belt snapped, being non interference, it shouldn't have made valve/piston contact. How did you come to that conclusion?

I'm not trying to say your wrong, I just don't want you to give that motor away if its repairable

i'm not sure. but i my friend and i took off the head and all the valves fell out. before we took off the head we tried to hand crank it and notice it wouldn't crank over that far. then decided to take the head off. the motor had good compression and everything when he picked it up from rims and things along time ago. and recently i finally bought the rest of stuff to finish up my motor and get it running but then that happened.

valves just fell right out!? were the valve heads broken off the stems or the full valves fell right out? if the entire valves just dropped right out after lifting the head off of the block, looks like the keepers weren't properly inserted. then when you finally gave it a good crank it's possible that's when all the valves just slid out and the pistons slammed into them. just a possible scenario. anyway, aside from that you need some possibly just some valves.
