new here
Re: new here
Oh it happend, I don't have it anymore but I am trying to find pics. I flipped the steering rack and welded new brackets for it. I cut out the section of the firewall where the pedals and brakebooster mount on the left (which was about 1.5ft x 1.5ft) and welded it on the passanger side. I removed the dash and made a full 6 point rollcage that had a 2in tubing going from A pillar to A pillar and worked as a mounting surface for controls and steering wheel. Now for the interesting part - when the LHD steering rack is flipped, the tires will turn opposite of the steering wheel. So - i found a mechanism that would reverse that movement and turn the wheels in the direction of the steering wheel. (There is one part on in a car that has this mechanism- an open diffferential. If you turn one wheel in the air, the otherone will turn opposite). The fabrication came out good, the system was solid and although it does need some Lubbin' every now and then, it worked.
